Why was the database created?

SOG Health is a health data warehouse of data collected from pharmacies concerning the dispensing of products and services to their customers.
It provides real-world data for research and non-interventional studies that inform private and public stakeholders on the proper use of medicines, treatment adherence, the identification of drug interactions, etc.
This observatory was duly granted an authorization issued to GERS SAS by the CNIL (French data protection authority) on 30 August 2024.

What data does the database contain?

Main inclusion criteria: A random, meaningless identifier Year of birth, sex So-called "dispensing or sales" data consisting of health data relating to the dispensing of healthcare products, services or medical devices, the date of dispensing, the price, the quantity, the amount of dispensing fees, etc.
Age group: Adolescent (12 to 18) Adult (18 to 64) Child (2 to 11) Infant (28 days to 23 months) Newborn (0 to 27 days) Older adult (65 and over)

How is the data managed?

Data retention period

The historical depth of the data kept in the warehouse may not exceed ten years from the date of the visit to the pharmacy.

Why is the database legal?

Legal basis: GDPR article 6.f. Processing is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by the data controller or by a third party, except where such interests are overridden by the interests or fundamental rights and freedoms of the data subject which require protection of personal data, in particular where the data subject is a child.
